Rebound Calculation for Deep Excavation in Soft Soil Based on Rebound-Recompression Method

The excavation-induced stress relief and inward movement of the retaining wall will result in soil rebound deformation at bottom excavation, adversely affecting nearby existing tunnels foundation piles. Various methods for calculating excavation rely on parameters void ratio obtained from laboratory tests, with considering effects sampling, specimen preparation procedures parameters. As a result, novel method is proposed this article based rebound-recompression (RRM). This first modifies initial (e0) recompression index (CLR) used traditional (TM) calculation, field curve by RRM, to situ (ev0) (CFR). Then, final calculated using layered summation method. In addition, through two engineering examples, compared calculation measurements, demonstrating that easy calculate, yields reliable results, can accurately predict excavation.
